During a visit to the Big Apple (New York City) I came across the huge canvas painting of George Washington Crossing the Delaware as depicted by Emanuel Leutze found inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I’ve only seen the painting through pictures and seeing it for real was really powerful. It really gave me a sense of nationalism seeing how the artist incorporated our rich history in such a timeless way.
Its a surreal painting that draws out rich emotions to people who fancy history, I even began to imagine how the history books I read fit into the context of how things happened back then.
for me this was beautifully done and worth a visit to the second floor gallery for those who fancy a mix of American art and culture.
